Here’s how we helped Mary from Maple Valley, WA sell her used 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix

Maple Valley resident Mary, who makes a living as a Rail-track laying and maintenance equipment operator, submitted her 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix Gt to us recently. The vehicle had approximately 198,000 miles on it when she sold it and she did have her title signed and ready to go. There was moderate body damage on the car like paint damage, dents, rust, etc and there weren't any flat or removed tires or wheels. Her car was able to start, however, she couldn't drive it. We offered her $375 on it and hauled the vehicle away free of charge around Sep 12.

We asked Mary a few questions about her car and her experience with The Clunker Junker

Here's what Mary had to say about her 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix and about us:

Was there flood or fire damage to the vehicle (including mold on the inside)?

Yes. The left window is cracked and a bit of water got inside. I covered it up with plastic, but it smells very musty, the interior has some mold.

Did your 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix require a jump start?

I replaced the battery fairly recently and it was working great. It started up with no issues.

Were there any issues that made your 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix unsafe to drive?

I couldn't consider it safe to drive. The engine would cut out randomly when trying to accelerate, quite unsafe.

Could you start the engine and let it idle?

Yeah, the motor was in very good working order. There were no big problems with it that stopped it from starting.

How much money did The Clunker Junker offer you for your 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix?

Well I was looking to get around $550, but we now know that they are offering raw material prices and includes free hauling. I ended up with $375 cash for my 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix. Yeah it was lower than I was hoping for, but The Clunker Junker towed it away at no cost so that was helpful.

"It's got ~204,000 miles. It's been a great and extremely reliable vehicle. The brakes, however, have gone out completely and it can't safely be driven right now. It needs major brake work and while in the shop it had a pressure test done to test for engine leaks because coolant leaking but it has never run hot or broken down. Needs a head gasket. Has brand new tires and brand new full tank of gas (85.00 / 21 gallons)."

"There is a transmission that was put in under a year ago that has a lifetime warranty. There has been a lot of mechanical work done on the vehicle in the past year and now there is a problem with the engine. The interior is in great shape and all windows, etc., work. There is also a DVD player in the vehicle."
