Eric's Expert Take

Eric is our founder and CEO and has nearly 15 years of experience buying and selling used and junk cars in the state of Florida. He is also a data nerd with a finger on the pulse of the cash for cars industry and salvage vehicle values.

Hi, this is Eric from The Clunker Junker! I’ve been analyzing our recent Florida deals, and here’s the quick rundown. Overall, we’ve been averaging around $676 for vehicles, not too shabby, I might add. Compact cars, let’s say something like a Toyota Corolla, are fetching around $646, which is a bit lower but still a fair deal. Pickup trucks, on the other hand, are bringing in the most dough. Think about a sturdy Ford F-150, for example, those are averaging at $792. SUVs and crossovers, like a Honda CR-V or a Nissan Rogue, they’re right there in the middle, with an average offer of around $745.

Now over here at The Clunker Junker, business has been bustling lately with almost 27,067 vehicles bought recently from folks just like you. And in the process, we’ve infused over $20 Million dollars back into the economy! A standout in the lot has been the Nissan Altima. This is a comfortable, midsize sedan that’s been especially popular amongst our Florida family. But the Altima is also known for its fair share of maintenance issues, such as transmission failure and engine problems, which is why it often makes a lot more sense financially to just let us buy it off you instead of pouring money into costly repairs.

As someone who has been in the “cash for cars” industry for more than a decade, I can say that used car prices in Florida have definitely stabilized. They’re virtually the same as they were a year ago, shifting by a negligible 0.0% each month. Interestingly, this presents a great opportunity for anyone looking to sell their car because of the predictability and the stability of the market. Not to worry though, I’ve got my finger on the pulse of the auto market. I’ll be keeping a close eye on any price shifts and will keep you updated on the latest trends. It’s a great time to sell, and we’re right here to make it as effortless as possible for you!

How to sign your Florida car title

We have put together a simple guide and example for how to sign your Florida title when you are selling your vehicle. If there are multiple owners listed on the title, they must all sign the title unless the names are separated with "OR".

  1. On a Florida title, the seller needs to sign on the front in the section that says Transfer of Title By Seller. Make sure you don't sign in the dealer only sections on the back!
  2. First sign your name on the front of the title where it reads "Seller Name (sign here)"
Always sign in pen on the seller line and never sign in the dealer section.
  3. Next, print your name on the front of the title where it reads "Seller Name (print here)" Always include any and all middle names or initials that are used in the owner section.

  2. Bring your duplicate title application to your local county tax collector office or mail your application to your local county tax collector office.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently asked questions about car sales in Florida

Can you buy cars in Florida if I don’t have my title?

Yes, in many cases! However, you will need to prove that you are the legal owner by providing photo identification that matches the name on your current registration. Note that not all buyers in Florida are willing to buy cars without a title, and your offer may be significantly lower without one.

What if my title doesn’t look like the one pictured?

Florida often changes their title documents from year to year. If you have questions about your specific title, please contact your Florida DMV.

Do I need to turn in my license plates?

Yes, unless you are transferring the plates to a new vehicle. You can return the plates to your local DMV office.

What should I do about my auto insurance?

You will need to notify your auto insurance company that you have sold the vehicle, so they can either cancel your policy if the vehicle was sold, or transfer/renew the policy on your new vehicle.

Is there anything else I need to do after I sell my car?

You may need to notify your local DMV that you have sold the vehicle. You can contact them with any additional questions or concerns about the transfer of your title.
