At the Clunker Junker, we understand that, and we recognize that one of the main reasons why our customers choose to sell us their cars is because they need money and quickly. You might not be able to wait two weeks to receive cash or a check, which is why we aim to pick up cars in less than three business days in most cases and pay when we collect the vehicle.

Your junk car just doesn’t fit in with the beautiful scenery of places like the Garden of the Gods, Pike’s peak, or Mesa Verde. It’s time to get that rotting hunk of metal out of your driveway and free up some valuable space in your garage or driveway. Eric's Expert Take

Eric is our founder and CEO and has nearly 15 years of experience buying and selling used and junk cars in the state of Colorado. He is also a data nerd with a finger on the pulse of the cash for cars industry and salvage vehicle values.

Greetings from The Clunker Junker! I’m Eric, your junk car geek and the face behind this establishment. Today, I want to share an update on what we’ve been doing in the beautiful state of Colorado recently. Looking back at our data from the last 30 days, we’ve got quite a story to tell.

Our cash offers have been averaging around $648 for vehicles across the board. Smaller compact cars like the Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla typically fetch a little less, with an average payout of about $573. On the flip side, pickup trucks like the robust Ford F-150 or sturdy Chevrolet Silverado continue to be our big earners, with offers averaging at a pretty $853.

Meanwhile, SUVs and crossovers like the Ford Explorer or the Hyundai Santa Fe fit well between the two, penciling in an average price tag of $731. This tells us that vehicle size and usability factor significantly into the value of junk vehicles.

Within the past month, we purchased approximately 13,531 vehicles and paid over $9 million to our customers! That’s quite a staggering number. Among all those vehicles sold to us, the Jeep Grand Cherokee, an iconic American SUV, was the most popular. Given its reputation for common problems like electrical issues and engine troubles, a lot of owners find it more cost-effective to sell it to us rather than pouring money into repairs.

Speaking of trends, let’s talk about the state of junk car prices in Colorado. Prices have held pretty steady, shifting only ever so slightly by -0.2% each month. It’s remarkably similar to where we were a year ago, and my prediction is that these prices are likely to maintain stability for some time yet. That’s good news for you because a stable market is the perfect time to sell your clunker.

With the trends remaining consistent, you can bank on getting good value for your junk cars. Of course, I’ll be right here keeping a keen eye on the market and sharing the latest updates with you. Thanks for riding alongside us in this journey!

How to sign your Colorado car title

We have put together a simple guide and example for how to sign your Colorado title when you are selling your vehicle. If there are multiple owners listed on the title, they must all sign the title unless the names are separated with "OR".

  1. Be sure you are using the "Assignment by owner(s)" section on the top of the back side of the title. Do not sign or print in the dealer reassignment sections!
  2. Sign your name on the back of the title where indicated by "Seller(s) Signature" (see image).
Always sign in pen on the seller line, and never sign in the dealer section.
  3. Hand print your name on the back of the title, where it says "Seller's hand printed name(s)". Always include any and all middle names or initials that are used in the owner section.

  2. Obtain a Secure and Verifiable Identification for vehicles purchased after July 1st, 2006.

How to get rid of an abandoned vehicle in Colorado

Getting rid of an abandoned vehicle in Colorado can be a difficult process. Unfortunately, you cannot just sell any junk car that ends up on your property if you do not own it. You can read more about selling an abandoned vehicle in Colorado

  1. The vehicle can be removed by private tow
  2. To apply for the title, you must first attempt to locate the legal owner of the vehicle by using the 17-digit VIN number.
If no known registered owner is found, you must publish a listing in attempt to locate the owner in your local Colorado newspaper. The listing must include: make, model, color, approximate year, vehicle identification number and license plate number.
  3. If no owner or lienholder steps forward to express interest in the vehicle, you may apply for a Colorado state title.
